This is serious. It affects you.

The Highland Lakes region has experienced one of the worst drought periods in recorded history. Past water management policies that failed to factor in drought severity and its economic impact on local communities made the problem worse. Policies still include a huge price disparity among water customers that does little to encourage conservation among large agricultural users.

Changing times require a change in practice and policy.

About Us

The Central Texas Water Coalition (CTWC) is a nonprofit organization advocating for policies that will preserve the Highland Lakes as irreplaceable natural resources that supply water for Central Texas’ 2 million residents and provide an important regional economic engine for the state of Texas. Members are united by their commitment to protect our future through responsible water management and conservation policies.

Support the CTWC’s work to advocate for responsible water management policies, equitable pricing and greater conservation by all.

Now that there’s water in the lakes again, help us keep it there

It’s been wonderful to see the lakes with water again after years of extremely low levels. Hopefully by now all Central Texans realize we need to remain vigilant if we want to keep our lakes healthy and productive and protect our drinking water.

Changes to the region’s water management plan to protect the lakes would not have occurred without the involvement of CTWC, more water could have been released downstream — despite the ongoing drought conditions. It is imperative that we remain steadfast in our advocacy for lake interests. If we relax and think state agencies will do it for us, we run the risk of seeing history repeat itself.

We’ve made progress but will need an even stronger voice in the future.

It’s important for us to continue to protect our region’s interests and our water. As an advocate for sensible water management, we rely solely on your financial support to continue protecting our water and the lakes. I hope you will consider making a contribution to CTWC and becoming a “Guardian of the Lakes” member. We can’t continue without your support.

Help us ensure receding shorelines don’t become the norm.

Thank you for your support!
